Bond Street Coffee and Freda

I feel incredibly proud to have been part of the Brighton speciality coffee scene for more than a decade. Bond Street Coffee opened in the centre of Brighton in 2014, and it has been a huge part of my life ever since.

These days, Freda Coffee and Bond Street Coffee are closely linked. Freda is my independent speciality coffee roastery, and all of the coffee we serve at Bond Street is roasted by me. I source the green coffee, choose the coffees I want to work with and roast them in small batches, before getting the chance to brew and serve them in the café.

For me, that connection is really important. I don't want Freda to feel like a faceless coffee company. I roast the coffee myself, work behind the bar at Bond Street, talk to customers drinking it and get to see every day how the coffees actually taste and perform.

Brighton has an incredible independent coffee culture, and I'm very proud that Freda gets to be a small part of it. If you're looking for speciality coffee in Brighton, you can visit us at Bond Street Coffee, or order our freshly roasted single origin coffee online to brew at home.

Speciality decaf without the sad decaf vibes. Properly good coffee that just happens to have (almost) no caffeine.

Notes From Freda

Thoughts, experiments and things I’ve learned from nearly two decades working in coffee. I write about roasting and brewing speciality coffee, running an independent coffee shop in Brighton, the wider coffee industry, and occasionally the small details I get unnecessarily obsessed with along the way.
