Adding freshly roasted coffee to the Cedar Hoop speciality coffee brewer

A relatively new brewer on the market, in my opinion the Hoop is one of the more interesting brewers. I first saw Scott Rao brewing with one in London at a pop-up and was fascinated.

Pouring water from a Fellow Gooseneck Kettle and the Ceado Hoop Brewer

Firstly, Its a zero bypass brewer. It’s believed that with a V60 there is a certain amount of water that dilutes the beverage which runs down the sides of the brewer. However zero bypass aim to avoid that.

The Hoop has a small circular filter paper, similar to an Aeropress, and all the water has to come through the coffee and paper in to the cup, in theory giving us a better extraction from the coffee.

This brewer is also super simple to use! Just pour water into the outer ring nice and slowly until you finished pouring all the water. The brewer then slowly feeds water into the inner ring brew chamber via a number of small holes around the outside.

After you've finished pouring the water, you can optionally stir the crust to try and get a higher extraction. However, I find it sometimes ends up stalling the brewer so its better to find the right grind setting and not stir!
